ABOUT JOSH
I’ve changed direction more than once. That’s why I know the first step matters.
I’m Josh Lawlor, an Australian speaker, marketer, fundraiser, business owner and business adviser based in Newcastle, NSW.
Across more than 20 years in leadership, I’ve worked in hospitality, trades and construction, entrepreneurship, marketing, fundraising and the for-purpose sector. Every chapter has taught me something about resourcefulness, relationships and what happens when you finally back yourself enough to have a go.
I built Scrubba Body from my kitchen bench into a business with more than 250 stockists, five retail stores, over 100 products and 30 staff. Three months into an MBA, I sold the business and began the next chapter, completing an MBA with Distinction and a Master of Marketing, then moving into work centred on fundraising, community and social impact.
At Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation, I have helped grow annual revenue by more than 100%, while increasing awareness and helping the organisation support more people across the Hunter.
My speaking is built around a simple idea: you do not need every answer before you move. You need enough clarity to make the decision, and enough courage to take the first step.

Business adviser
Still in business. Still learning. Still having a go.
Alongside speaking, I work with business owners as a business adviser through the Business Centre. It keeps me close to the real decisions, pressures and possibilities that come with building something of your own.
Scrubba Body
The lessons came from doing the work.
Building Scrubba Body taught me what backing yourself actually looks like: making decisions with incomplete information, changing direction when the evidence demands it and continuing when the path is anything but tidy.
